We’re engaged!

After kidnapping me after work for a surprise weekend getaway in the Cascades, Lisa proposed to me during a snowshoeing trek Saturday.
Our first meeting 2 and a half years ago was on a hike, so it was so perfect to have it happen in the mountains. The ring was tied to a canister of bear mace that she was encouraged by friends to bring on our first outing together, on the off chance I was some psycho-killer.
Or a bear.

A wet, wild, wintry day on Little Si

Posted on October 30, 2006

Lisa and I have been so busy training for and running our half marathons that we haven’t had an opportunity to go on a hike since Labor Day weekend. Sunday we went to an old favorite, Little Si. It was raining pretty hard in the morning, but by noon it had stopped and the skies were clearing. That all changed once we made it to the trail — we started in a torrential downpour, saw briefly sunny skies, then sleet, fog, snow, and heavy winds… we had it all. I didn’t take any pictures during the heavy rains or snow, (and not enough overall to warrant a new entry on the main site) but I managed to get a few shots of the fog and the trail itself.

It felt really good to get out again.
